Bamboo grass forms an important sub-family with 45 genus and 200 types within the grass family. The genus Bambusa, Dendrocalamus and Phyllostachys are preferably cultivated as vegetables (bamboo shoots). Bamboo grass can grow up to a height of 30 m and reach a diameter of up to 30 cm.
Bamboo grass is indigenous to the tropical regions of East Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Utilisation
As garnish for Asian dishes, soups, ready-made meals and convenience foods.
