The japanese term edamame translates roughly to "beans on a branch" and therefore refers to the soybean pods, which contain the soybeans. The released kernels are referred to as mukimame. The soybeans are sprinkled with sea salt and served as a snack and fit perfectly in a healthy "clean eating" diet.
