Certifications

The German “Bio” label designates that the produce or food product originates from verified organic agriculture or natural animal husbandry as per EC-Eco-Regulation. In order to receive the “Bio” label the food must fulfil EU statutory requirements. The label is intended to boost consumer confidence in the product as well as enhance transparency for the consumer. 

HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)Certificate

Any company that produces, processes and markets food is required by both German law and EC Regulation 852/2004 to implement and apply the HACCP approach. This systematic approach identifies critical checkpoints in production processes thereby preventing biological, chemical and physical risks for the consumer.
IFS Broker
(Higher Level)

IFS BROKER is a GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) recognised international standard for food security. This certification of traders ensures that the customer receives a product, which meets contractual specifications. In addition, the standard imposes exacting and clearly defined hygiene, process, safety and certification requirements on producers.

V-Label 

Certificate

The European V-Label identifies vegetarian and vegan foods. Since its introduction in 1996 food producers and retailers can apply for a licence with the Swiss V-Label GmbH. The European Vegetarian Union is an umbrella organisation for numerous European vegetarian organisations.
KosherCertificate

 

The Jewish dietary laws originate from the Torah, the five books of Moses. According to these books foods are categorized in kosher and non-kosher. In order to market kosher food, a rabbi must issue a hechsher or “seal of approval” for that food product.

MSC (Marine Stewardship Council)

The Marine Stewardship Councilis a private organisation that developed an environmental seal for fish from sustainable fisheries. MSC certified products originate from sustainable fishing methods, which protect the oceans and fish populations in the long-term.

SAFELinks

 

For years we have advocated the Earth Island Institute’s SAFE initiative, which works to implement dolphin-, sea turtle- and shark-safe tuna fishing methods. SAFE certified fisheries pledge to introduce methods, which reduce by-catch, and not to target young tuna.
